Job Description
The Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Manager works alongside the other members of the TEL team to support the development and delivery of technology enhanced teaching & learning within King’s Foundations and across PACE. They:
- Support King’s Foundations staff in the development of teaching &learning resources through the use a variety of TEL tools and platforms.
- Manage the annual cycle of the production and delivery of TEL resources e.g. KEATS rollover, set-up and support of online assessment etc.
- Monitor Staff TEL capabilities and facilitate all staff and student training/CPD to enhance TEL skills.
- Drive forward and support e-learning innovations which improve the user experience.
- Collaborate with teams across PACE and King’s to enhance TEL provision and represent KF on College-wide TEL projects/initiatives.
The role is primarily based at Bush House on the King’s Strand Campus though you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion. King’s is currently trialling a hybrid working scheme where staff may be able to work remotely for part of the week, as determined by required output and departmental need.
This post will be offered on an indefinite contract
This is a full-time post – 100% full time equivalent
Key responsibilities
- To work with the Education Manager and the Deputy Director (Education) to support the King’s Education Strategy and implement the departmental TEL Strategy
- To work with Colleagues across PACE and the wider King’s Community, leading projects using technology enhanced learning to drive improvements in learning & teaching and the student experience.
- To advise on, develop, test and maintain teaching and learning resources using a variety of tools and platforms including Adobe Connect, Camtasia, Echo360, Kaltura, MS Teams, Moodle, Office365, Photoshop, Polleverywhere, Sharepoint, Turnitin and other TEL resources.
- To actively monitor trends, best practice and developments in e-learning and related fields. To evaluate the department’s TEL resources and practice against College and sector benchmarks.
- To develop training and support material for teaching and professional services staff and students, facilitate training workshops, and deliver ad-hoc deskside coaching in e-learning systems and practices.
- To manage the annual VLE rollover and to act as the primary VLE contact for King’s Foundations. To manage staff access/permissions and ensure KEATS pages and resources are well structured and up to date.
- To work closely with the King’s Foundations Programmes and Student Experience teams to manage all KEATS content, and actively assist in the management of online assessment through KEATS and Turnitin.
- To actively monitor trends, best practice and developments in e-learning/related fields and evaluate the department’s TEL resources and practice against College and sector benchmarks.
- To act as an effective liaison between King’s Foundations teaching staff and King’s technical services. To proactively develop a network of contacts, participating in collaborative cross-PACE and King’s TEL projects and representing the department on College fora.
- To support the production of KF video content, being the lead the use of the Kaltura video hosting platform, sharing best practice for video production in an educational content.
