The salary variety will be ₤ 15.66 per hour plus an extra market supplement of ₤ 12.54 an hour, inclusive of London Allowance.
Teaching Assistants (TAs) will supplement academic lectures through the delivery of group mentor and associated responsibilities for students taking modules in the School of Management. Associated duties might consist of marking of coursework and tests.
A TA may be associated with one or more of the following activities:
Teaching help through the assistance of seminars and/or workshops.
Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers.
After-class contact time with students, consisting of time-tabled office hours.
Coursework and/or evaluation marking. (This might consist of marking for modules not taught on by a TA.) Marking responsibilities include participation at co-ordination conferences as needed and are paid at different rates depending upon type and length of scripts marked.
Dissertation guidance at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level( s).
To keep records to keep an eye on trainee progress, achievement and presence.
Weekly office hour( s) for student enquiries in the term taught plus extra hours in term 3 previous to the assessment.
Evaluation marking responsibilities representing half the examination marking load of a full-time member of staff. Participation in lectures for the courses taught. Regular meetings with the module leader to discuss arising problems and problems.
Class teaching (in groups of approximately 15 – 25 trainees) for several course modules.
To uphold privacy in regards to trainees records and marks.
Actively following UCL policies, including equality and variety.
Keeping an awareness and observation of fire, health and wellness regulations.
Marking of coursework submitted for the classes taught utilizing solutions offered by the module leader.
Carrying out other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the function, as requested by the Head of Department.
It is prepared for that a considerable number of TAs will be associated with both teaching and marking. There will, however, be some chances for duties including teaching just, and/or marking only. The department will make every effort to match the allocation of mentor and/or other duties to a person’s experience, and to appraise any choices regarding individual modules and particular tasks stated at the time of application. As soon as appointed, TAs will be expected to reveal affordable versatility in accepting the class mentor they are assigned. Likewise, considering that the number of students on some modules is not known till after the start of term, the department reserves the right to make last-minute changes to teaching loads or schedules, marking and other responsibilities.
The allowance of class teaching to TAs will be figured out by scholastic staff in the School.
The post holder will report to the leader of the module/s they are supporting and the consultation will be readily available from 21 September 2022 to 30 June 2023 initially.
Educated to Masters level, or have equivalent certifications or professional certifications and experience, in mathematics/engineering/science/ economics) Educated to Masters level, or have equivalent qualifications or expert certifications and experience, in mathematics/engineering/science/ economics) with knowledge of calculus, linear algebra, stats and likelihood theory.
