The Department

Library Services is at the heart of the student and academic experience at the University of West London, facilitating creation of knowledge and ideas and developing confident, critically information-literate professionals. We place particular value on supporting our institutional mission of extending higher education to those traditionally excluded from it, and in facilitating research and scholarship in ways that connect with equity and widening participation. 

The Role

We are looking for a Subject Librarian to join the UWL Library Academic Support Team. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting the teaching, learning and research activities of the School of Law and the subject areas of Criminology and Policing.

The successful candidate will design and teach information literacy classes to students at different levels within a school/college/subject and evaluate the impact of this work. They will be responsible for managing the relevant reading lists and selecting and ordering material for the subject area. They will be the principal contact between the library and the school/college/subject area and will be responsible for liaison, consultation and communication between both parties. They will work closely with the school/college/subject to provide excellent enquiry and study support for students and staff.   

The Person

The preferred candidate will be a pro-active, forward looking, service-oriented individual with a professional library qualification or equivalent experience, excellent communication skills and experience of working in a library environment.

Library Services has implemented an annualised hours working framework to ensure maximum flexibility for individual staff and the University.  

The post will be based at our Ealing campus but may be required to travel to our other campuses as required.
