The London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) is one of the foremost social science universities in the world, with a global reach and an international student intake. The Student Wellbeing Service is central to the student experience: we aim to ensure that every student feels that they belong to a welcoming, inclusive, supportive, caring, scholarly community. SWS encompasses the provision of direct services to students which currently includes student disability, mental health & counselling support, proactive outreach to students to promote timely engagement with services, the development of effective peer and self-help, & community building activities to promote cross School student wellbeing (including trainings, workshops, and other engagement activities).
Working closely with the Deputy-Head of Student-Services (Wellbeing), the Student Wellbeing Project Manager will take a lead role along two primary workstreams. Firstly, SWS is undertaking a significant change agenda to enhance the delivery of services to students & staff in line with the School’s Educate for Global Impact Strategy. This involves the expansion of resources to meet increasing demand, the enhancement of processes and the utilisation of technology to increase efficiency and reach. Secondly, like many HEIs, the LSE has developed a Student Mental Health & Wellbeing Framework to proactively support wellbeing across our community and to better align strategy with the aspirations of the Student Minds Charter Programme. The postholder will assist the Deputy-Head in bringing this relationship closer by supporting our application for the Student Minds Charter Award. In doing so, the Student Wellbeing Project Manager will provide project management and contribute to process & engagement developments to meet this end.
The successful post-holder will be an individual with excellent organisational & problem solving skills, experience in project coordination, the ability to use their own initiative, and be able to multiple and occasionally conflicting priorities. They will be educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with university students and/or knowledge of mental health issues.
We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual-leave and excellent training & development opportunities.
As an equal-opportunities employer, we welcome applications from Women & Black, Asian, Minority, Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds as they are currently underrepresented at this level in this area. All appointments will be made on merit or skill & experience relative to the role.
This position will be subject to a standard Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. Any offer of employment made is conditional on receipt of a satisfactory DBS check.
