Student Systems Analyst & Developer

About the Role
We are looking for a self-motivated student systems analyst and developer to help us support a wide range of staff and student processes at Queen Mary University of London.

The Student Systems Team supports business critical processes such as admissions processes, enrolment, module selection, research degrees, awards, student enquiry, student immigration status, regulatory reporting, timetabling, alumni and more.

We are in the process of implementing a new satellite application, so we can become better at managing various elements of student data. These systems are a high priority for the university and therefore need appropriate support. One of these systems is the new Degree Apprenticeship application, which requires additional support beyond those systems currently offered by QMUL.

Main duties and responsibilities
This role will contribute to the implementation phase, ensuring functionality and capabilities are fully understood and conveyed to stakeholders across the university, our employers, and student / apprentices. They will create easy-to-digest FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and user guides to make adoption of our new applications as easy as possible.

It is also expected that new features – as released by our suppliers – are tested thoroughly and – where relevant – information conveyed to relevant users.

You will be the key contact person with the Account Managers of our suppliers knowing everything about your applications and therefore a key person for stakeholders.

You will also be expected to deliver training, as well as creating and compiling supporting user documentation.

The role primarily involves system administration, user support, supplier communication, user training and reporting to relevant stakeholders. Understanding the business needs of its users; providing effective training and documentation; and the timely provision of day-to-day support.

You should apply if
You have a versatile and analytical approach to solving problems with a keen eye for opportunities to improve processes and systems.

Benefits
We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus.

The post is a full-time, indefinite appointment. Salary is on our Grade 5 scale and will be in the range £41,386 to £48,414 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.

Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We are open to considering applications from candidates wishing to work flexibly.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Elaine Ellul at [email protected].
