The College of Global Studies (the study abroad division of Arcadia University, USA) is seeking  candidates for the following role.

The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University (based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA) provides over 100 study abroad programs in 10 countries to students from over 300 institutions of higher learning in the United States. Currently, the University is ranked #1 in the USA for the number of students that study abroad through its short-term, summer, semester and full-year programs. With over 30 programs offered at UK universities, in addition to its London Centre, the College of Global Studies offers a diverse range of study abroad options, including first year programming, internships, and undergraduate research opportunities. Arcadia’s London Centre is based in Bloomsbury where classes, academic programs, student life services and other forms of comprehensive support are offered to participating students.

Job Outline

The Student Services Officer provides support to students as part of the Student Life team based in our London Center. The postholder has particular responsibility for advising first year and custom program students on concerns and issues related to student life and adjustment. The postholder will work with the Associate Director of Student Services, the Assistant Director, Custom Programs (based in the US Office) and the London Academic team with regard to the organisation and delivery of these programmes.

The nature of the role means that unsocial hours may need to be worked, some evenings and weekends during term time. Arcadia London operates a hybrid working policy to enable staff to work from home as work allows.

Eligibility:

Applicants should have the right to work in the United Kingdom and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, experience, skills and attributes.

Essential:

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Minimum two years’ administrative experience
  • Prior experience organising events
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

Desired:

  • Experience of UK and US higher education systems
  • Experience of providing student support/ pastoral care
  • Ability to think strategically with regard to the delivery of student services
  • Proven ability to manage projects from inception to fruition
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, Salesforce and Canvas
  • Social media use in work environment

Job description

Conditions:

The post will require the candidate to fulfill occasional on-call duties as part of a staff rota as well as participating in occasional out of hours activities in the evenings and weekends.
