Job Summary

An opportunity has opened for an experienced scholarships and student financial support administrator in our Student Financial Support team. Acting as the main point of contact and administrator for our centrally managed research scholarships, you will have strong attention to detail, financial reporting skills and understand the importance of delivering excellent customer service. There are opportunities to work with others in the team during an exciting period of growth in our scholarship portfolio.

The Student Financial Support team provides advice to students and staff on Government funding and scholarships available, and administers all centrally managed scholarships, bursaries, hardship support, placement grants and US Federal Loans. The functions of the team have been critical in supporting students through the impacts of the COVID pandemic and meeting recent challenges impacting the global community. We have seen significant growth in the College’s scholarships offered to international and domestic students, reflecting the College’s commitment to value and to improve diversity.

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for co-ordinating the full scholarship cycle, including advertisement, processing applications and awarding the scholars for our postgraduate research awards.
  • You will contribute to the review of Student Financial Support publicity, including the website
  • Your work in administering scholarships including our research scholarships will include:
    • Planning the scholarships process to be in-line with internal and external deadlines throughout the year.
    • Managing the nomination and ranking process with Departments
    • Organising and support scholarship selection panels
    • Being the point of contact for students and staff for post-award questions.
  • You will advise, assess and administer the College’s Student Support Fund.

Essential requirements

  • First degree or equivalent educational experience
  • Proven experience at similar level
  • Proven experience as a cooperative team member who can also work independently.
  • Experience of using and managing databases to store, manipulate and retrieve information.
  • Experience of providing a positive and responsive customer-focused service
  • Experience of planning and progressing work activities within general guidelines, using initiative and judgment, making decisions where necessary
  • Experience of prioritising work and of managing demanding workloads successfully
  • Experience of data analysis and calculations, presenting findings accurately and appropriately to support effective reporting of information
  • Meticulous, organised and very well-structured administrative skills
  • Advanced IT skills (word for general administrative duties and mail merge, excel with an understanding of V-Lookups, pivot tables, email and use of databases)

Further Information

This is a full time and fixed term post for 12 months, to cover maternity leave. 

You will be based in the South Kensington Campus.
