We are seeking to recruit a Strategic Faculty Research Manager in the Faculty of Science and Engineering to play a strategic, leading role in the development and delivery of the Faculty’s research strategy and to support its implementation. Our faculty research growth strategy is working. In REF2021 our GPA increased overall, for output and for impact across all UoAs compared to 2014. 97% of our research outputs were ranked as ‘internationally excellent’, with half classed as ‘world-leading’. About the Role
The Strategic Faculty Research Manager will lead on all research and innovation matters for the Faculty, in support of the Vice-Principal and Dean for Research, to support and deliver the Faculty’s research strategies and priorities. The role will oversee Faculty initiatives to drive research activity and grow research income, working with and be supported by a pool of Senior Research Managers and Research Managers within the Faculty. The role will oversee and develop mechanisms to support our researchers and our research enabling activities; in partnership with others leading on aspects of supporting readiness for the next REF and the development of impact; and future knowledge exchange exercises and co-ordinating the Faculty response to large calls.

About You
The successful candidate will have significant managerial experience or in-depth experience in research management within an HEI or Trust. They will have had experience in developing research strategy and implementing systems and service improvements, knowledge of the research funding landscape and in managing research governance processes. They will have excellent analytical, financial management, communication and interpersonal and people management skills.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering has five academic Schools which host and support over 13,500 students, approximately 400 academic staff and 1,000 research, technical, professional services, and other support staff.

Benefits
These posts are based at the Mile End Campus in London (postholders expected to spend 60% of working time on campus). They are full-time (35 hours per week) permanent appointments. All roles have an immediate start date. The starting salary for all posts is Grade 7, in the range of £58,378-£65,251 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. There is access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum.
