
About the Role
A Senior Technician is required to support the Laboratory Management team in ensuring the safe operation, maintenance and efficient management of the entire research laboratory environment of the Blizard. The successful candidate will support the Blizard Institute, Head of laboratory management in the delivery of strategies, policies and guidance, ensuring the safe and smooth operation of the entire research laboratory environment of the Blizard Institute and adjacent buildings by playing a key role within the Institute laboratory management team. Providing daily support as the Blizard laboratory H&S Coordinator promoting and policing all aspects of Health and Safety and initial point of contact within the laboratory management team for Clinical governance matters.
About You
You will have an undergraduate degree in a life science or biomedical subject or equivalent vocational qualifications and/or substantial relevant experience and sound knowledge of laboratory safety, risk management & health & safety regulations.

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed-term position for 12 months, with a start date as soon as possible. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £34,733 – £40,797 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
