About the Job

You will provide the highest quality, multi-specialist technical expertise and support to students, staff, and external partners for the teaching, research, and consultation work of the school in the areas of Biological and Biomedical Sciences. You will serve as the primary source of expertise when demonstrating the use of specialist equipment and techniques to students and staff. 

Key duties include:

  • Providing the highest quality, multi-specialist technical expertise and support for teaching activity, practical classes, student projects and MSc courses during and outside of standard term times   
  • Providing high quality technical support to teaching, outreach activity, research, consultancy, and income generation activity at designated times throughout the year
  • Providing specialist training for up-skilling of other members of the technical team 

About You

The ideal candidate will be educated to Master’s degree level, in a life science, with primary expertise and working knowledge of laboratory techniques and use of equipment in microbiology with considerable experience of working in UK laboratory/research environment and up-to-date practical experience in the provision of technical support in a laboratory setting. You will have excellent organisation and interpersonal skills, as well as a commitment to supportive and encouraging team working.
