Senior Post Graduate Assistant in Quantitative Research Methods (Multiple Roles)

The Department of Political Science wishes to appoint multiple Senior Postgraduate Teaching Assistants in Quantitative Research Methods for the 2022/23 academic year. Module descriptions are available here: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/political-science/study/undergraduate/all-undergraduate-modules  The purpose of this job is to support teaching and learning in our modules, working with the academic module leads through the delivery of small group face-to-face teaching for students taking modules in the Political Science Department. Main duties of the post include being the in-person seminar leader for seminar/s each week. Expect to generate weekly workshops, provide demonstrations, facilitate discussion, and answer questions for material presented in lectures. Please find modules below that we are looking for Senior PGTAs in:

  • Introduction to Quantitative Research Methods (Q) (POLS0008)
  • Data Analysis (Q) (POLS0010)
  • Causal Analysis in Data Science (Q) (POLS0012)

The appointments will be available from 1st September 2022 until 28 February 2023 for Term 1 appointments and 01 December 2022 to 30th June 2023 for Term 2 appointments in the first instance.

Candidates must be educated to the Master degree level in the relevant field of the module being taught. The applicant must be a current PhD student in a relevant discipline. Excellent working knowledge of R and RStudio, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, with students, academic and administrative staff at all levels, excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to explain course material clearly to students is essential.
