Salary from £50,606 to £58,505 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £65,157 pa inclusive of London allowance

LSE wishes to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel officer to its Legal Team, which alongside a Governance Team, forms the School’s Secretary’s Division.  The Legal Team covers a wide remit of work, which includes the areas of dispute resolution, legal agreements, insurance, and information management.

The two Senior Legal Counsel postholders will have broad remit of work, which will focus on dispute resolution in the form of student complaints and misconduct cases; legal agreements in the form of contracts, deeds and non-disclosure agreements; the implementation of, and training on, relevant legislation; and reviewing and drafting some of the School’s policies and procedures.  From time to time, the postholders will be required to draft and present committee papers and reports.  The postholder will report to the Head of the Legal Team, who is line managed by the School Secretary.

Candidates should have

  • A legal qualification
  • Previously worked in a legal position, preferably as a lawyer in the higher education sector
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Candidates for the post of Senior Legal Counsel should have a legal qualification and worked in a legal position, preferably in the higher education sector.  Good communication, people, problem solving and teamworking skills are essential.
