The Role
We wish to appoint a talented and inspirational Senior Lecturer in fashion pattern drafting and realisation to assist in developing and leading the new Fashion undergraduate course, as well as delivering on the BA Fashion and Textiles course where appropriate.
You should be supportive of the vision for the school and to delivering research, innovation, and enterprise.
The Person
We would like to speak to candidates who possess direct experience of industry standard digital CAD/ CAM pattern-cutting applications, as well as traditional processes; being able to visualise from concept to prototype. You are entrepreneurial with a keen business awareness, aware of current debates within the industry (sustainability etc) committed and ambitious with the academic and professional credibility to develop our reputation with the creative industries and beyond, both nationally and internationally. Candidates will be aware of developments in the fashion industry pertaining to digital fashion developments within the changing career arena.
Candidates must have a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline. You should ideally be undertaking a PhD, and/or have a research, innovation and/or enterprise record, and have professional experience in your field. You will have experience of teaching and learning in higher education. Ideally applicants will hold a recognised teaching qualification for Higher Education. Successful applicants without a relevant teaching qualification will join the UWL Academic Professional degree apprenticeship scheme supporting the UK government’s commitment to up skill the UK workforce.
