
Massey University offers a world-class undergraduate programme in Food Technology which, as part of the joint agreement with Jiangnan University, we are now delivering in China.
The School of Food and Advanced Technology, Massey University is looking to appoint two five-year, fixed[1]term positions – a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Food Process Engineering and a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Food Technology. These positions are required to fulfil obligations under a five[1]year international partnership between the School of Food and Advanced Technology and Jiangnan University to deliver the Bachelor of Food Technology (Honours) programme as a joint degree.
The successful applicants will be required to teach offshore in Wuxi, China for approximately five months every year; and for the remainder of the year be located at either the Auckland or Manawatu campuses of Massey University, with the possibility of some time spent in Singapore.
The successful applicants will be responsible for the following:
- Preparing and presenting lectures, laboratory sessions, seminars and tutorials for undergraduate and postgraduate students at our overseas partner universities and on our New Zealand campuses as required
- Contribute actively to advance the School’s research culture and research outputs by developing team-based and personal research programmes in one or more areas within food engineering, bioprocess engineering and food technology
- Participate in community service activities that further advance the profession or field and which are consistent with the University’s Charter and Strategic Plan Conduct other research-related activities as appropriate
- Promote University academic and professional interests by serving government, community, professional, educational or other organisations in external capacities
- Assist the School to develop an environment which gives effect to the obligations of the Treaty of Waitangi
The successful applicants will have a PhD qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, Food Product Development, Food Microbiology or a related field. Relevant industry experience is also desirable.
