
About the Role
The Data & Governance Manager will lead the setup and provision of genetic and health data resources for academics working with the Genes & Health programme of research, including a £25m Industry Consortium. The role includes responsibility for the management and delivery of the Genes & Health data resources, leading the collection and curation of large health datasets from NHS sources, management of £1m Google Cloud budget, and management of two analysts.
About You
Candidates must have significant experience managing the setup and curation of large health and/or genetic datasets for other users to access, the ability to lead a team of developers and analysts, and knowledge of databases and coding. Experience applying for access to NHS health data sources, experience writing and enforcing data security & information governance policies, and knowledge of developing cloud compute infrastructure is desirable. Candidates require a degree in life sciences or equivalent work experience, ideally with a higher degree and relevant Professional IT qualification.
About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a part time/full time (28-35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 3 years, with an expected start date of June/July 2022. The starting salary will be Grade 6, in the range of £48,035 – £53,625 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
