MRC Band 4 Salary £32,005 – £35,143 plus London allowances (£3,727 & £1,402) per annum

A 2-year Research Specialist position is available at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) to work within the Developmental Epigenomics Group with Prof Juan M Vaquerizas at the London Institute of Medical Sciences. The Developmental Epigenomics Group aims to understand how cells use their genetic information throughout development, and how these regulatory mechanisms are affected in disease. We are a friendly, collaborative, combined wet lab and computational team which uses a wide range of high-throughput genomic techniques such as single-cell multiomics, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, and Hi-C. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and self-motivated scientist with strong lab experience to support the running of the group, and who will also actively be involved in ongoing research projects with the opportunity to both work collaboratively with other group members and drive their own project. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in a range of genomics and molecular/cell biology techniques, as well as the ability to develop and apply new concepts, good attention to detail, and a creative approach to problem solving. 

The successful candidate must have the following essential attributes: 

  • PhD (or equivalent) in genetics, developmental biology, molecular biology or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in molecular and cell biology techniques and experience in functional genomics methodology (e.g. ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN, ATAC-seq, Hi-C, RNA-seq, or related techniques)
  • Excellent experimental skills and extensive experimental/bench work experience 

The LMS is an Institute funded by the MRC and part of the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College.
