These roles provide vital support and expertise to our research teams with stewardship of their projects in pursuit of LSHTM’s mission to improve health worldwide.

An experienced Research Finance Manager is sought to oversee the post-award financial management of a portfolio of complex research projects. Day to day this is a busy and varied role in which the post holder will lead a team in:  preparation of funder financial reports, monitoring income from funders, raising supplier invoices, approving high-value transactions, and providing guidance on funder terms and conditions.

The post-holder will be the key business partner for a faculty on post-award issues, working closely with faculty leadership.  They will be responsible for delivery of an efficient, customer-focused service to the faculty, identifying and resolving issues, and driving long term improvements collaboratively including through process and system development.

Applicants must have experience of leading a team, and of working in a finance role, ideally in higher education research administration. Experience with the Agresso financial system is highly desirable, as is experience of successfully leading change. The successful candidate will be able to prioritise their workload effectively to meet often conflicting deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy, and to use their judgement to resolve issues independently.

The post is available immediately and is offered open ended, at between 0.8 and 1 FTE.

The salary will be on the Professional Services scale Grade 7 in the range £47,405 – £54,267 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

Any queries regarding the application process may be addressed to [email protected]. LSHTM have a newly implemented Hybrid Working Framework, which alongside agreed service requirements, enables teams to work more flexibly (if the role allows), promoting a greater wellbeing and work/life balance.

The supporting statement section should set out how your qualifications, experience and training meet each of the selection criteria. Please provide one or more paragraphs addressing each criterion. The supporting statement is an essential part of the selection process and thus a failure to provide this information will mean that the application will not be considered. An answer to any of the criteria such as “Please see attached CV” will not be considered acceptable.

Please note that if you are shortlisted and are unable to attend on the interview date it may not be possible to offer you an alternative date.
