This is an interesting chance to join the lab of Professor Konstantinos Thalassinos, based at University College London. The primary function of the position is to carry out the structural characterisation of protein complexes associated with DNA repair. This job follows on from our just recently published work (Goold et al., Cell Rep. 2021 Aug 31; 36( 9 ):109649) where we recognized brand-new protein interactions crucial for regulating CAG repeat growth, a crucial driver of HD pathogenesis. The position will match somebody with an interest in DNA repair, Huntington’s illness, Cryo-electron microscopy and Structural Mass Spectrometry. The post is funded by the CHDI Foundation (https://chdifoundation.org).

You must have a PhD in Structural Biology or an associated discipline, with substantial experience in single-particle cryoEM, and computational image analysis, data collection and processing, and a strong background in structural biology. Training in structural mass spectrometry methods will be supplied.

Please note: Appointment at Grade 7 depends on having been granted a PhD; if this is not the case, preliminary consultation will be at research study assistant Grade 6B (Salary ₤ 32,217 – ₤ 33,958 per annum, consisting of London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (consisting of corrections).
