security mechanisms for

next-generation cloud computing environments. The goal of the task is to advance the advanced in the safety, strength and dependability of future cloud environments by rethinking the style and application of cloud software application stacks, working across the runtime, operating system, hypervisor and hardware layers. The effective candidate will sign up with the Large-Scale Data and Systems (LSDS) group, under the supervision of Professor Peter Pietzuch, and work with a team of professor, researchers and PhD trainees, in cooperation with industrial partners. Duties and obligations The post offers an amazing chance for performing internationally leading research on brand-new software/hardware security systems in cloud environments, thus having an impact by attending to real-world security problems. The Research Associate/Assistant will be responsible for creating and implementing new safe and secure os, container/virtual device models, hypervisors and middleware for cloud environments, providing brand-new abstractions and APIs for hardware security features and carrying out, assessing and open-sourcing experimental software application models. The Research Associate/Assistant will perform a research study program that covers the locations of running systems, security and computer system architecture, undertake research project management and work with a varied research group. The prospect will also prepare and send publications to top-tier conferences and journals, publicising research results at premier systems, security and architecture conferences. Necessary requirements To obtain this position, you need to have a strong computer technology background and have experience, including a tested publication track-record, in several of the following locations: operating systems, distributed systems, security and/or computer architecture. You should also have: A PhD degree( Research Associate) or a Master’s degree

( Research Assistant )in computer science or an associated area. Experience with the design and implementation of system software application( e.g. operating system( OS) kernels, microkernels, hypervisors, low-level middleware systems) and systems programming languages( e.g. C, C++, Rust).

Understanding of compiler innovation(

  • e.g. LLVM), computer architecture( e.g. RISC-V, Arm, x86), hardware programs( e.g. assembly, VHDL, Chisel )and hardware isolation innovations( e.g. Intel MPX/MPK/SGX, Arm TrustZone, CHERI ). Great software development practices, including understanding of version control, CI pipelines, shell scripting, develop systems, etc. See task description
