Applications are invited for a Research Associate in Research Associate in Signal Processing for 6G Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces
- The Research Associate will conduct original research in signal processing, optimization, and machine learning for reconfigurable intelligent surfaces in 6G and beyond as part of the EPSRC funded project “Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces 2.0 for 6G: Beyond Diagonal Phase Shift Matrices”, in partnership with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Interdigital, and Viavi Solutions. The Research Associate will develop the foundations of “beyond diagonal reconfigurable intelligent surfaces” (BD-RIS) aided network design, identify the full potential benefits of BD-RIS for next generation wireless networks (communications, sensing, power), and assess the feasibility of BD-RIS.
- The Research Associate will be expected to submit publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding.
- Other aspects of the post include undertaking project management, collaborating with PhD students and Research Associates, as well as academic and industry partners, and/or supervising multi-disciplinary teams.
Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £40,694 – £43,888 per annum.
Duties and responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- To take initiatives in the planning of research
- To direct the work of small research teams
- To closely follow and contribute to the progress of the project and cooperate with other researchers
- To ensure the validity and reliability of data at all times
- To maintain accurate and complete records of all findings
- To write reports for submission to research sponsors
- To contribute to the timely production of project deliverables
- To present findings to colleagues and at conferences
- To submit publications to refereed journals
- To write technical reports and patent applications
- To disseminate research results and organize research events
- To act as the representative for Imperial College London in meetings with partners, conference calls and international conferences.
Essential requirements
Essential requirements include:
Research Associate: Hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in signal processing, optimization, machine learning for wireless communications and a significant publication track record.
Research Assistant: Hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in signal processing, optimization, machine learning for wireless communications and a significant publication track record.
- Experience within a research environment
- Experience of writing scientific publications in top conferences or journals
- Experience of writing concise and pertinent reports
