
The Department of Art is looking for an artist or art historian with significant experience of working in art education to lead Critical Studies on the BA Fine Art Extension programme. The post involves working closely with the Programme Leader of the BA Fine Art Extension to deliver a bespoke, one year critical studies programme for artists studying on the BA in Fine Art Extension.
This is a preparatory programme designed specifically for the needs of international students enabling them to gain the skills required to progress to and participate fully in either our BA in Fine Art or our BA in Fine Art and History of Art programmes. Critical Studies comprises 25% of the course; the teaching involves lectures and seminars, essay marking and individual tutorials.
We are looking for a professional in the field of art with a record of international standing who will have some experience of teaching in an art school. You will be an artist or art historian with experience of teaching in HE Fine Art.
The post involves joining a team that works flexibly within a context of student-centred learning and you will be expected to make a significant contribution to the teaching. We expect you to sustain an engagement with your own practice and show a responsive and creative approach to the varied and specific needs of these international, predominantly bilingual students. 20% of your workload is assigned to research.
