About the Institute
DERI is Queen Mary’s first University Research Institute, created as part of the university’s ambitious Strategy 2030. DERI is dedicated to ground-breaking research in digital and data science, offering an outstanding research environment, including dedicated high performance computing infrastructure, and leading the university’s participation in The Alan Turing Institute.
This is an exciting time to join DERI as it continues to expand, and you will have the opportunity to conduct world-class research whilst also feeding into, and helping to steer the growth, and evolution of the Institute, and AI, digital, and data science research at Queen Mary.
About the Role
We seek an outstanding researcher working at the interface of AI, looking to employ interdisciplinary research and techniques to address real-world challenges, and drive forward change. Applications are welcomed from those working across the breadth of AI, and the exact job title will be defined with the successful candidate based on their research area. We are particularly keen to hear from those working in areas of national importance, and those whose research aspirations align with ours.
This role is research-intensive and one of four key strategic academic appointments. These roles are unique in that they are dedicated to research and have minimal, if any, teaching responsibilities. Each post comes with support to facilitate the growth of a research group, and the forging of collaborations, enabling the post-holder to seamlessly establish themselves at DERI. You will be a key member of the DERI leadership team, contributing to our development, as well as inspiring, and leading on expanding research in this space to deliver outstanding, interdisciplinary research achievements.
You will have a PhD in a relevant field or an equivalent qualification or experience, with extensive research expertise in AI and data science at a national and international level, including publications in internationally renowned journals. You will be a natural collaborator, inspirational to peers, with the drive to turn ideas into tangible outputs, and with a track-record in securing, and delivering AI/Data Science driven research grants and initiatives.
