About the Role
The candidate will ensure that material is clear, consistent, complete, and credible, and that text is well written, grammatically correct, and accessible so it is ready for publication. The candidate will work on a range of publications.

About You
We are looking for someone to support Prof Althoefer in proofreading and editing reports, papers and grant applications in the framework of current funded projects and future projects. The main duties are:

  1. Prepare reports of research results for public presentation through workshops/conferences.
  2. Prepare reports on activities and results of on-going projects of the line manager.
  3. Contribute to writing papers summarising research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  4. Contribute to writing grant applications extending the work of this project.
  5. Contribute to other reports where possible.
  6. Contribute to the advertising activities as required in the framework of the project.

About the School
This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with 110 academics and a similar number of postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1000 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students. These are supported by an administrative and technical staff team of 45. The staff and student body are international in make-up.

The department research and teaching facilities were recently refurbished; upgrading research and teaching space and a range of new laboratories have now opened.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is part time (21 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 1 year, with an immediate start date. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £38,165 – £44,722 per annum pro-rata, inclusive of London Allowance.
