Transforming lives through excellent education

London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it’s what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.

The School of Human Sciences brings together the University’s science-based provision and offers a diverse range of courses across a range of essential scientific disciplines that underpin this provision. Our courses are closely allied to subjects related Applied Biology, Biomedical Science, Blood Science, Molecular and Pharmaceutical Science, Analytical, Synthetic, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, Herbal Chemical Sciences and Pharmacology, Nutrition, Dietetics, Sports Sciences and the newly offered degree in Physiotherapy. The Science Centre is the School’s hub for the provision of cutting-edge research and undergraduate practical teaching in these disciplines.

In order to support the Physiotherapy teaching provision that is being offered to students from September 2022, an opportunity has arisen to appoint a physiotherapy technician with the appropriate knowledge and expertise in the field to join the technical team within the Science Centre.

We are particularly interested in an individual who is willing to learn on the job and who will provide technical expertise and support across a wide range of practical classes and possess extensive demonstrable experience gained within a broad range of working environments. Applicants should have a good general education with previous experience of working as a physiotherapy technician, sports or sports science technician or similar.

You will be a team player who is organised, numerate, practical and efficient, be able to relate well to young people and have excellent interpersonal skills. You must be enthusiastic and willing to help undertake a range of practical aspects of the role, providing support in a flexible way where it is required which will assist in the planning and delivery of all operational aspects of the Science Centre.

You must be able to ensure that staff and students who work within the Science laboratories follow the required Health and Safety protocols.

Experience of Word and Excel, some experience of databases and some knowledge of physiotherapy techniques and related equipment will be an advantage.
