Short summary

This is an ideal opportunity if you are interested in working in a dynamic People team, as it offers a wide variety of HR advisory responsibilities, as well as the opportunity to be part of one of the most significant UK biomedical science projects in a generation.

The People advisory team is involved in a range of activities, including employee relations activity, annual performance and pay review, training and development including manager induction, management information, and policy and process improvement.

Reporting to a People Partner and working alongside People Advisors, you will support the team across the full range of this activity. Your work will help to deliver a proactive and flexible HR service by providing relevant and appropriate HR support to all employees and non-employees at the Crick, whilst driving best practice and ensuring compliance with Institute procedures, policies, and employment legislation.

Key Responsibilities

These include but are not limited to:

  • Provide general HR support and advice covering all employee lifecycle activity to both employees and managers, working in partnership with People Coordinators where relevant
  • Lead on employee relations matters to ensure that all casework is managed in a fair and transparent manner. This will include absence management, capability, disciplinaries, grievances, flexible working, restructures and redundancies
  • Provide primary support and advice to hiring managers on recruitment activity, including salary benchmarking, interviewing and support with writing job descriptions
  • Manage all queries on maternity leave and other family-friendly policies, including meeting with individuals and providing support and advice before, during and after periods of leave
  • Review and development of policies and processes 
  • Review and development monthly and ad-hoc MI reporting, working with the People Partner to create workforce plans based on relevant data
