Contract Type: Variable hours, open ended
Job Summary:
The Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication (CLCC) at Imperial College London is seeking a Part-Time (Sessional) Adult Education Tutor in Cultural Studies (Women in Art). The CLCC comprises 4 main programmes: the Imperial Horizons programme for undergraduates, a large Language programme, two MSc programmes in Science Communication and a thriving Adult Education programme open to all offering both evening classes and day time classes.
Duties and responsibilities
You will undertake course preparation and teaching delivery of an existing evening class course on Women in Art (A Feminist History of Art), which looks, amongst other things, the activities of historic and contemporary women artists, from the Renaissance to the present day, reasons for the marginalisation or women in the history of art, Feminist art practice and theory and similar matters. You will deliver the classes once a week from 18.00 to 20.00 for ten weeks over one term (October to December). Additional courses may be possible subsequently.
Your target audience for the class will be adult education evening class students, which usually includes a mixture of Imperial College students and staff, and members of the public. The course will only run subject to sufficient student enrolment.
Essential requirements
You will have:

- proven ability to teach people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences enthusiastically;
- experience of classroom and online teaching of higher or adult education students in the subject area;
- experience of teaching the subject of the course, or a closely related area;
- willingness to work on the development of new and perhaps experimental courses in related areas;
- flexible attitude towards work;
- good personal organisation and time management skills;
- ability to build good relationships and collaborate with others
