Ca’ Foscari is looking for a researcher of English literature with a cutting edge research profile. The researcher should also have a strong commitment to teaching new generations of students so that they can become game-changers in their own fields and make a difference in the world.
The selected candidate will teach in English and Italian in courses of “English Literature”, in the BA and MA programmes offered by the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies, as well as in other post-graduate and Doctoral programmes. He or She will have to be able to perform all administrative duties and interact with the university administration in Italian.
Research
The selected candidate will have to carry out research in the field of English Literature and Culture, with a focus on Nineteenth Century literature through a theoretical and/or comparative lens and literary adaptation of fictions of transformation (fairy tale, novella) and the way these genres have been adapted over the centuries in different languages and cultures, and from “adult” literature to children’s literature.
The position will be hosted in the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies. The Department has recently received a “Department of Excellence” Award by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. The Excellence Award has allowed the Department to Develop state of the art laboratory facilities to pursue the theoretical and empirical study of linguistic and cultural diversity.
The Department is unique in its multidisciplinary approach to language, literature and culture, with fertile exchanges between linguistic, literary, historical and political approaches and an international outlook essential to a critical understanding of global society.
The Department actively pursues internationalization, activating joint programmes, Erasmus exchange periods, internships abroad, encouraging publication in international journals and inviting many Visiting Scholars and Professors.
