The University of Westminster is recruiting a Mentoring Officer (Mentors) to join its award-winning Future Ready Mentoring programmes and team.
This opportunity comes at an exciting time for the University of Westminster, as investment has been granted to significantly expand its mentoring provision to students, in view of long-term ambitions to offer every student a work-based learning opportunity as part of their studies.
Future Ready Mentoring offers students and recent graduates the chance to learn from a professional mentor during their studies. Future Ready Mentoring offers three different types of career mentoring options to students and recent graduates to support their employability and career prospects, including the award-winning Career Mentoring Programme, Ask a Mentor service and Group Mentoring.
The Mentoring Officer (Mentors) will have a specific focus on supporting mentor engagement in the Career Mentoring Programme, which provides long-term 121 mentoring support to students and recent graduates. Driving recruitment of mentors and matching them to appropriate mentees in specific professional disciplines, the post-holder will ensure a positive experience for mentors throughout and will provide ongoing training and coaching to mentors. The Career Mentoring Programme currently supports over 750 students and recent graduates annually, involving a large network of mentors who are volunteers from across our alumni, supporter and employer community.
Reporting into the Senior Mentoring Officer (Career Mentoring), the successful candidate will work as part of the Mentoring Team, situated within the Alumni Relations Office, to deliver against ambitious targets for the Career Mentoring Programme branch of Future Ready Mentoring at Westminster.
The post holder will have excellent communication skills and a proven track record of working in an alumni relations/ membership organisation or related service. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability work under pressure to deliver against strict deadlines, to the highest standards is also required.
