The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7.

The role of the mental health coordinator is vital in supporting students within the disability mental health and wellbeing team.

The responsibilities vary but include the following: To provide information advice and support to disabled students face to face, by email, Microsoft teams video and audio calls and on the telephone. Supporting the management of enquiries that are sent to the main disability mental health and wellbeing inbox. To support with the return to study process and student of concern processes. To signpost students to the appropriate support services e.g. mentoring, counselling, GP etc. To liaise with relevant external organisations and/or students’ personal support networks with regards to students who present at risk or potential risk. To refer as appropriate, individual students where they become more complex and/or require crisis intervention. To respond to enquiries from disabled students regarding their equipment and support needs, liaising with funding bodies where necessary. Being part of a fast paced and dynamic team including working together and supporting each other as a team. To identify reasonable adjustments for individual students and liaise with academic and other staff to ensure their needs are disseminated in a confidential manner.

Excellent interpersonal skills including: an ability to listen/instruct and advise ,an ability to liaise with all types of people, an ability to exercise tact and diplomacy whilst maintaining confidentiality, excellent ability to uphold personal and professional boundaries ,the ability to work as part of a fast past multidisciplinary team.

A successful Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this post.

We are operating hybrid working and you will have the opportunity to work remotely for up to 3 days a week currently if you wish. However, this is open to review.
