Central Saint Martins is looking to appoint two Library Assistants to assist in the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused library and open access IT services.

1 x full time position (35 hours):

  • Term-time working hours are Mon-Fri, 10:00am – 6:00pm.
  • Vacation periods working hours are Mon-Fri, 10:15am – 6:15pm.

1 x part time position (22 hours):

  • Term time working hours are Tuesday & Thursday, 9:00am – 5:00pm, Wednesday 8:30am – 5:30pm.
  • During vacation working hours will be from Tuesday & Thursday 9:00am – 5:00pm, Wednesday 9:15am –6:15pm.

In your answer to the first question on the application form please tell us which role(s) you are applying for.

You will take part in front-line services and administrative duties including assisting users with directional and initial information enquiries in person and online using our live chat service ASK, helping with the use of Library materials, dealing with account queries, as well as supporting students with general purpose software. You will also assist with the production of promotional and instructional guides to encourage students’ independent learning.

You will also keep the space in good order, for example through regular tidying and shelving, in accordance with best health and safety practice and security guidelines. You will also provide support for self-issue systems and IT.

Your profile
You will have relevant experience in a library or customer service environment, and formal training or education to post-16 level. You will have experience of working as a member of a team, providing support, assistance and cover where needed. You will also be able to work independently and have excellent written and oral communication skills and be IT literate.
