
About Us
The Strategic and Defence Studies Centre (SDSC) is Australia’s largest body of scholars dedicated to research and education relating to the use of armed force in its political context. Within the broad field of Strategic Studies, SDSC’s activities are concentrated within three multi-disciplinary clusters: Australian defence and strategic policy; military studies; and Asia-Pacific security. SDSC conducts four major educational programs at undergraduate and graduate level, and includes a vibrant community of PhD scholars.
The Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs forms part of the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific and is dedicated to advancing analysis and understanding of the international, political, societal, and strategic affairs of Asia and the Pacific. The School is constituted by four departments: the Department of International Relations; the Department of Pacific Affairs; the Department of Political and Social Change; and the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre.
The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP) leads intellectual engagement with the Asia-Pacific region through research, teaching and contributions to public debate, and seeks to set the international standard for scholarship concerning the region.

The Opportunity
The Strategic and Defence Studies Centre (SDSC) at the Australian National University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (continuing) to contribute to our research, education, and outreach activities in Strategic, Defence or International Security Studies.
The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in Political Science, Strategic Studies, International Relations, or another cognate field. Additionally, they should have a track record of original, independent research in Strategic, Defence or International Security Studies. This record will be evidenced by internationally-competitive peer-reviewed research outputs and by other measures such as demonstrated impact, awards and participation in research projects. They will also have demonstrated ability to teach in the areas of Strategic or International Security Studies.
The Lecturer will report to the Head of SDSC. This position is located in Canberra.
