Within the IOE, SRI is one of the largest centres of multi-disciplinary social science research and teaching in London. It is home to over 80 academics based in seven renowned research centres including: Thomas Coram Research Unit (TCRU), where the post holder will be based, has a long history and expertise in researching those children and families that are most vulnerable to economic and social adversity. Our work influences theoretical debates and public policies on: early childhood; children’s health, care and education services; children’s agency; young people’s identities; intersectionality; reproduction; motherhood and fatherhood; gender equality and fluidity; family diversity; poverty including food poverty; parental leave; place-based inequalities; children’s language brokering; transnational families and practices; social pedagogy; work-family reconciliation; migration experiences.

You will lead and be responsible for the delivery of high quality second year modules on our undergraduate curriculum: Social Psychology and/or Families and Societies and/or Social Justice and Social Psychology.

You will be expected to enhance our teaching portfolio, specifically on the BSc Social Sciences degree. This is an interdisciplinary degree, anchored in psychology and sociology that trains students in both qualitative and quantitative methods. The post holder will be expected to contribute to and lead psychology-related modules on this programme, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations on topics related to psychology, and provide personal tutoring.

There are two Maternity Cover posts available: One is available immediately and the second post is available from 1 September 2022, both are available until 31 December 2023.

Candidates will hold a PhD in Social Psychology or a related field (candidates close to completion will be considered) along with evidence of scholarship in Social Psychology which contributes to TCRU research.

Experience of delivering lecturers (in person) and seminars in the fields of Psychology and/or Sociology is desirable.
