Part Time : 18.25 hours per week (50% FTE) Contract/ Fixed Term

Salary: The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8. The salary range will be £45,610 – £53,757 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy at University College London (UCL STEaPP) is an interdisciplinary department that aims to explore, experiment with, and improve the ways in which scientific, technological, and engineering expertise are engaged in public decision-making and policy processes. This part-time (0.5 FTE) Lecturer (Teaching) position will deliver teaching in the MPA in Digital Technologies and Policy. The main focus of the teaching will be on the regulation of digital technologies and emerging risks pertaining to cybersecurity, privacy, safety and fundamental rights.

This is being offered as a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. This will be a 12 month contract, depending on the return of the substantive post holder.

Candidates should have a PhD (or close to submitting a PhD) in digital technology policy, digital technology law and regulation, risk regulation and governance, public policy, or public administration with a clear focus on critical challenges and risks associated to emerging digital technologies, including cybersecurity, privacy, data protection, misinformation and disinformation, discrimination, online harms, etc. They should have experience of teaching and leading courses at UG or PGT level in the broad field of digital technology policy, law and regulation (including co-leading courses).
