About the Role

Due to the expansion of our successful programmes, we are looking to appoint up to fifteen Lecturers or Senior Lecturers to support teaching and research/scholarship in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science (EECS).

About You

The posts require an effective communicator of new and complex ideas with an ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of the target audience. You will have a PhD or equivalent experience, and be passionate about your work in subjects such as: generative AI (cross-modal and multi-modal), explainable and responsible AI, interaction design, social signal processing, software engineering, procedural and object-oriented programming, algorithms & data structures, and computer systems, operating systems and networks.

If you have expertise in other areas of Computer Science, you are strongly encouraged to apply as the areas are not limited to the above list.

For research-active posts (Teaching & Research), you will have a track-record of high-quality research in Computer Science, and your future research plans will be clear and ambitious. Queen Mary is a signatory of DORA declaration, and as such the quality of your research will be judged on its own merits.

For teaching-only posts (Teaching & Scholarship), you are expected to have clear and ambitious plans to develop your future scholarship activities to contribute to student education and experience through curriculum development and the delivery of educational activities in Computer Science.

About the School of EECS

As a multidisciplinary School, we are known for our pioneering research and pride ourselves on our international reputation. We are equal first in the UK for the impact of our Computer Science research, and second for our Electronic Engineering research output (REF 2021). The posts are based at our Mile End Campus in London and are full-time, permanent appointments which are available immediately and to be filled ideally by January 2024. Starting salary for Lecturers will be in the range of £47,178-£58,595 per annum (up to £63,622 for exceptional candidates) and for Senior Lecturers is £61,896-£69,114 (up to £77,240 for exceptional candidates). These salaries are inclusive of London Allowance. A UK Lecturer is equivalent to an Assistant Professor in the US and a Senior Lecturer is Associate Professor.
