The Department of Culture, Communication and Media (CCM) is a department of IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society. It is committed to excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the areas of: Media and Cultural Studies, Art, Design and Museology; Academic writing; English education: Applied Linguistics; Music Education; Multimodality studies; Learning with Digital Technologies.

We are seeking an exceptional appointment to the post of Lecturer in Digital Media Production.

You will be based in the UCL Knowledge Lab, a leading interdisciplinary research centre in digital research and design, whose mission it is to understand and to develop digital technologies to support and transform learning and other social practices.

The postholder will join the UCL Knowledge Lab’s Media team of lecturers whose expertise spans a range of areas, including media and cultural studies, multimodality, digital arts and media, film, animation, digital games, location-based media, and media education. It will mainly contribute to the MA Digital Media: Production course, one of three masters routes in Digital Media based at the UCL Knowledge Lab, the others are the MA Digital Media: Critical Studies and the MA Digital Media: Education.The team runs the ReMAP research centre, which has a strong track record with funding from AHRC, ESRC, EPSRC, EC, and others, and a strong partnership with the BFI..

Opening in 2022 and 2023, UCL East will unite academic activities across experiments, arts, society and technology, integrating research and education, theory and practice – with cross-disciplinarity, innovation and public engagement. More than just a conventional campus, UCL East represents a future focused mindset. We will deliver new research, technology and innovation, and undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes for up to 4,000 students. 

You will play an important role delivery of the MA Digital Media: Production course and contribute an important specialism to the range of expertise required by the programme. In addition to teaching at postgraduate level, you will contribute to BA Media and PhD programmes, and to research, knowledge exchange and consultancy activities in ReMAP, the Knowledge Lab, and eventually the SCCI at UCL East. 

You will also play an important role in the development of the new UCL Media Network, generating collaborative approaches to teaching, research and intellectual endeavor across the three faculties.
