The Department of Computer Science just recently renewed its Athena Swan Bronze award and is keen to additional boost the percentage of women in the department.
Brunel’s Computer Science department provides undergraduate programmes in Computer Science and Business Computing and postgraduate taught programs in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science & & Analytics and Digital Service (UX) Design. Successful candidates will play a considerable role in the shipment of mentor across one or more of these programs and provide specialist support for final-year projects and/or masters dissertations. The department welcomes applicants with teaching knowledge relevant to any area of our program curricula and especially motivates applicants with the capability to contribute towards mentor in cybersecurity.
Research in Computer Science at Brunel is internationally recognised, Our research study is ranked 3rd by discipline in the UK by efficiency ranking of scientific papers and 1st for average citations and H-index (NTU, 2020). Our department has particular strengths within the following research areas:
- Computing Methodologies (Intelligent data analysis, AI, simulation and modelling)
- Human Centred Computing (HCI and interactive multimedia systems)
- Software Engineering
- Computational Biology
The effective appointee will have the prospective to contribute high quality research study that improves a minimum of one of above department research study areas, through journal publication, research income generation and engagement with stakeholders. For among our readily available functions the department particularly welcomes candidates who can contribute to more structure our strengths in Computational Biology, including Bioinformatics, Computational Systems Biology and/or Computational Synthetic Biology.
The department strongly supports interdisciplinarity and a number of university-wide research study centres supply interesting chances to work collaboratively on essential societal challenges. Computer technology staff will also benefit from co-location with the university’s new Artificial Intelligence Living Lab which is being established to supply world class centers, combining computer scientists, health scientists, social researchers and engineers.
