About the Department:

The SOAS Department of Politics and International Studies is a world-leading, research-led department, ranked 5th in the UK and 17th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2023).

The Department is known for its combination of both academic and professional training in politics and international relations with a focus on the politics and international relations of the Global South (Asia, Africa, and the Middle East). Our MA programme in International Studies and Diplomacy is widely recognised for its distinctive approach to policy-oriented postgraduate training, with a global focus that also covers the role of the US, Europe, and multilateral institutions in partnership with emerging powers. Preparation for careers in international affairs has long been a key strength of the Department.

About the Role

We are pleased to invite applications for a Lecturer (Teaching) in International Studies and Diplomacy starting in Autumn 2023.

We are looking for a scholar with demonstrated excellence in innovative forms of teaching, with a focus on postgraduate professional training. The appointee will strengthen and work with the Department’s Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy (CISD), with a focus on the MA in International Studies and Diplomacy. We are open as to thematic specialism within the field of Diplomatic Studies broadly defined.
