
The opportunity
University of the Arts London is looking for an experienced Lecturer in Digital Fashion Product Development to join us at the London College of Fashion.
You will be responsible for teaching, curriculum development, unit management and on-going scholarship on the BA Buying & Merchandising course.
You will work collaboratively within the course team, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions. You will undertake development that challenges the canon of Fashion Buying & Merchandising, with a focus on digital product development, 3D garment construction and sustainable product sourcing.
You will also look to expand the capacity of the course design, ensuring students are prepared for a rapidly changing fashion retail environment, focussing on product development and supply chain skills.
This is a pivotal role that will ensure that our students are ready to think more consciously about current industry practices and sustainability, giving them a key opportunity to make a real difference.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will possess an undergraduate degree in either Fashion Business / Management / Fashion Buying & Merchandising / Fashion Design or an associated subject. A higher degree in Fashion Business / Management or an associated subject is desirable.
You will exhibit teaching and assessment experience within a higher education environment and will apply an inquiring, innovative and reflexive approach to teaching. You will also demonstrate evidence of research, knowledge exchange and/or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of Fashion Buying and Merchandising activity.
Strong organisational skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team and across different professional groups is essential.
