We have an exciting job opportunity for you to join Parliament as a Knowledge Exchange Officer, working in a small and friendly team: the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology.

The Team

The Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) serves both the House of Commons and House of Lords and is the office in UK Parliament that bridges research and policy. Its work includes the production of impartial, non-partisan and peer-reviewed briefings on topics in science, technology and the social sciences; horizon scanning activities; delivery of seminars and events; and support to select committees. POST is also home to UK Parliament’s Knowledge Exchange Unit (KEU), in which this role will be based.

To help Parliament access the best available research evidence, the KEU supports the exchange of information and expertise between researchers and the UK Parliament. It does this through working very closely with universities and research councils; providing training and resources, promoting opportunities for researchers to engage with Parliament, delivering academic fellowship programmes, and collaborating with the higher education sector.

The Role

This is an exciting new role we have created for someone who can be both creative and organised. It will enable us to expand our academic fellowship programmes and support the implementation of new and evolving partnerships with research councils and funders.

The successful candidate will mainly be responsible for helping us to manage and deliver our academic fellowship programmes and collaborative programmes we deliver with external partners. This includes delivering recruitment, onboarding and offboarding processes, as well as related administration tasks for our fellowships programmes. It also includes working with external partners to deliver new and innovative collaborative projects which embed academics in Parliament. The successful candidate will also play an important role in the wider work of the KEU and POST.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Experience or interest in knowledge exchange or engagement
  • Organisational skills including excellent planning, organisational and record management skills.
  • Excellent people skills; a positive person and committed team player.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience of engaging in human resources processes, or comparable.
