
About the role…
We are looking for an Industrial Relations & Employee Relations Specialist to join us to support with establishing and embedding constructive relationships between the University and its’ recognised trade unions. This role will support all industrial relations specifically in periods of organisational change; maintain a suite of effective and legally compliant HR policies, building in a process for continuous improvement and update; provide complex employee relations advice to line managers and work to minimise and resolve disputes and grievances.
This is a key role within the HR leadership team, where you will emphasise the importance of making sure the relationship between the University and their people is managed through transparent practices and relevant law.
About you…
You will need to demonstrate substantive IR and ER experience at senior level in a large, unionised organisation and have substantial experience of leading, communicating, advising and consulting at executive level and with trade unions on large scale organisational change issues and policy development. You should have an eye for detail, excellent working knowledge of UK employment law and its implication and application and an understanding of current HR trends and IR issues, as well as a thorough understanding and appreciation of equality and diversity issues in employment, particularly the public sector equality duty, and an understanding of the external economy, the HE environment and sector activity.
