HR Adviser (Immigration Compliance)

This is a fixed-term post for 12 months to cover a secondment

Salary: £31,029 to £35,635 with the potential to progress to £38,283 pa inclusive of London allowance

LSE is a cosmopolitan university based in the heart of London. The HR Division provides advice and support to the School’s 3000 staff, covering a wide range of departments, professions and services.  We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to join our small and friendly team.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational immigration compliance activity.  You will manage the visa application and extension process for staff and ensure that they receive prompt, accurate information and support when applying for their visas. You will also ensure that sponsorship criteria are met and records are maintained to a high standard so that LSE meets its sponsor licence obligations.  In addition, you will undertake projects to review and improve the service we provide and develop guidance and training material for our customers. 

You will have experience of working in a busy administrative role, ideally one that involves HR/ recruitment, immigration or auditing, and you will have experience of providing high standards of customer service.  You will be able to plan and prioritise your own workload, work accurately and pay close attention to detail and be able to communicate clearly to a wide variety of people with diplomacy and tact.  You will also be able to apply your knowledge to cases and use your initiative to solve problems and see tasks through to completion. 

Although comprehensive immigration knowledge is not essential, you will be able to demonstrate you have an interest in UK immigration issues and how they apply in an employment context.  Ideally, you will have some previous experience of giving advice to those who need a visa to either live, study or work in the UK.
