Central to Brunel’s ongoing successes is its integrated Health, Safety & Environment Team who work closely with our staff and students to ensure a safe working environment at the university. The team work closely with academic and research staff, professional services and the student body.
We are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join our team. Within this dynamic role, you will provide professional advice and guidance to university staff in relation to building, construction safety; work closely with the University Fire Safety Officer to help formulate and implement a risk-based schedule of work, and undertake systemic fire safety risk assessments; and lead on our ISO45001 OHSMS audits. You will also help to develop and deliver a robust safety training portfolio.
The successful candidate would be responsible (where appropriate, and under the guidance of the Head of Health, Safety & Environment) for liaising with external authorities including (but not limited to) LFB; NHS; UK Health Security Agency and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant field, and will ideally also have experience of work with Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (or be willing to undertake further training). You will have experience of applying good health and safety practices within a department or organisation and have the ability to work independently to achieve the goals of the team and support the university, and be an excellent communicator.
