We are looking to appoint a Head of Research Funding in our Joint Research and Enterprise Services (JRES), for a 12-month period from March 2024 to cover maternity leave. JRES provides a research and enterprise management and facilitation service to both St George’s, University of London and St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and the Head of Research Funding works across both organisations.
This is an interesting and diverse role, leading a team of 12 and providing research management and support to academics and clinicians in areas including grant applications, financial management of research, horizon scanning of research opportunities and compliance with research terms and conditions. The postholder will work closely with other Heads in JRES, as part of the JRES senior management team, to provide a high-quality service to St George’s researchers and external research partners.
Key attributes of the successful applicant include:
- Significant experience of research funding management in an NHS and/or higher education setting in either the costing and development of research funding applications or the financial management of awarded research funding.
- Experience of people management
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong numeracy and financial management skills
