
St Mary’s University, Twickenham is seeking to recruit a high-calibre individual for an exciting new full-time post of Head of Academic Partnerships. The successful applicant will be an experienced and outstanding individual who will be able to lead and inspire a wider team within the University – including academic staff in Faculties with specific responsibilities for partnerships – focused on building and maintaining sustainable partnerships in both domestic and international spheres that contribute to University objectives for growth. The postholder will be expected to work closely with senior academic staff and staff in our professional services to provide strategic leadership in the approval, operational delivery and evaluation of academic collaborative partnerships, both domestic and international. The postholder will support innovation and enhancement within academic collaborative partnerships, in order to maximise the experience and outcomes of students engaged in our partnership programmes. The post will sit within the Centre for Teaching Excellence & Student Success (CTESS). The post will be line managed by the Head of CTESS, who is also the University’s Dean of Learning and Teaching. There will also be a dotted line to the Provost so the postholder will have a direct link to the Senior Leadership Team. Applicants must have a degree level qualification (or equivalent) and a higher degree is desirable. They will be expected to have experience of working closely with other senior staff to drive initiatives and experience of working with collaborative partners (ideally both domestic and overseas) in a HE setting. Applicants should have a proven track record of building and maintaining strong and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and should have knowledge of managing risks associated with partnerships work. Applicants should have experience of chairing committees and contributing to effective governance of partnerships work and a knowledge of quality assurance processes in HE would be desirable, along with an awareness of recent sector developments that are likely to impact on collaborative partnerships (e.g. B3 OfS Metrics). A strong solutions-focused mindset and a proven ability to manage their own workload is expected.
