About us

UCL is a radically different university. Founded in 1826 in the heart of London, we were the first university in England to welcome students of any religion and the first to welcome women on equal terms with men. Today UCL has over 50,000 students and 15,000 staff and is one of the world’s top 10 universities.

The Vice-President External Engagement team (VPEE) coordinates UCL’s engagement with a range of external and internal audiences, raising the university’s profile and influence, and managing its reputation. They promote the public value of UCL’s research and education, both within the UK, and globally. It is a service-driven team of communications and marketing professionals who deliver sector-leading media relations, public affairs, institutional communications, brand and integrated marketing, student recruitment, and events.

About the role

We are recruiting an Events Manager to join our fantastic Institutional Events team who will focus on attendee experience at our events, and will also provide event management support across Institutional Events where capacity allows.

In particular, the successful candidate will manage the graduation student experience, currently delivered through Freshdesk, where 20,000 students contact us throughout the year in the lead up, during and after graduations. Additionally they will manage delegate reporting for events, providing delegate insight including surveys and recommending areas we can improve our attendee experience, as well as developing, implementing and maintaining systems, processes and procedures from beginning to end of the delegate experience.

Interviews will be held on 21st September.

About you

To excel in this role, you must have experience of organising or supporting the delivery of events in a professional or voluntary capacity and experience of working in a customer care environment including resolving enquiries and handling complaints via email. You have excellent IT skills including MS Office, and experience using helpdesk software such as Zendesk or Freshdesk would be advantageous. You should have proven experience of developing systems and processes to improve customer experience and the ability to create processes which are easy to understand.

You are a strong written and verbal communicator with the ability to tailor communications to a range of audiences, and are able to establish, maintain and expand positive relationships with a wide range of individuals and across different teams. You are continually seeking to improve processes and service delivery, and are committed to providing a responsive and helpful service.
