The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join RADA’s dedicated Student Wellbeing team in a new post focused on providing specialist support for students with disabilities and specific learning differences (SpLDs), in addition to general advice to the wider student population. As part of a team of professional support staff, the postholder with work closely with the Head of Student Wellbeing, Depty Registrar (Admissions and Student Services) and the Access and Participation Team to provide effective and integrated services to students and specialist advice to teaching staff. The post is offered at 0.8 FTE, with some flexibility in the days and hours worked.

RADA’s diverse student population includes a significant proportion of students with disabilities and additional learning needs. The Disability Coordinator will assist students with Disabled Student Allowance applications and coordinate non-medical helpers, such as BSL interpretors, note takers, specialist mentors and study skills tutors. They will also work closely with Course Directors and other academic staff to identify and implement reasonable adjustments to RADA’s intensive training acivities and to build accessible and inclusive learning environments.

The role sits within the Student and Academic Services department and will work with the team to support the wider student experience through the provision of advice and pastoral support, signposting information and referring students to other internal and external services as required. We are seeking a friendly and approachable individual, with excellent communication skills, capable of building strong working relationships. The post is initially offered on a 12 month fixed term basis with the potential to extend to a longer term appointment.
