About the Role

A deputy laboratory manager is required to join the Institute laboratory management team on a temporary basis to support and deputise for the Principal Laboratory Manager in ensuring the safe operation, maintenance and efficient management of the entire research laboratory environment of the Blizard, Abernethy and Wingate Buildings.

About You

The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and management of all aspects of Clinical governance and Health & Safety in all of the Institute’s laboratory areas. They will formulate and implement laboratory policies and procedures, which best support the research activities of the Institute. They will also provide advice on strategic investment in, and development of, the research infrastructure of the Institute.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 6 months in the first instance, with an expected start date of July 2022. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £38,655 – £45,479 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
