This is a newly created role within the Income Services section to provide both an additional senior support and in turn a much greater senior resilience within the team. The role holder will look to play a hands-on proactive part in becoming an additional SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the multitude of various activities that Income Services are involved in, whilst also helping provide the team with a greater capacity to allow for a “Simple, Nimble & Effective” approach, as new strategic projects and initiatives arise within King’s.

King’s College London has an annual turnover of more than £1 billion, generated from a wide variety of education and research related activities. Income Services have a wide-ranging involvement with the allocation of the various types of receipts, be it student fees, sales invoices, research or general ledger income, and the various range of receipt payment methods and associated compliance areas involved (e.g Money Laundering and Due Diligence checks), and for a range of bank accounts. Income Services is also the lead section for Income Manager, the receipting module of Unit 4 ERP (formerly known as Business World, Agresso).

Income Services are also responsible for providing a central support for the multi-functional online eStore, as well as support for the business areas (and related activities) who have their own dedicated online payment pathways. The section also leads on PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliance from the Finance perspective plus are heavily involved in cross-functional Counter-Fraud activities, which King’s we are aiming to expand on.

The role holder will be required to help drive and deliver a varied range of value-added initiatives and delve into existing areas that require attention. These include looking to improve upon our use of data, KPI’s, reporting (including use of dashboards). The role holder will therefore need to have the aptitude to grasp concepts and digest information easily and will also have the drive and tenacity to see projects and tasks through to completion, overcoming any obstacles that may impact end goals.

The role holder will report directly to the Head of Income Services and will work collaboratively across the Finance & Procurement Directorate and the wider King’s community, to provide expert professional guidance, support and service excellence.

The role holder will be an extremely motivated individual and will help ensure that Income Services constantly adapts to meet the ever-evolving needs of King’s. The role holder will be responsible for two direct reports, the Income Services Supervisor and the Senior Compliance Officer, within an Income Services team consisting of ten staff. Additionally, Income Services work very closely with our Credit Control section (responsible for the invoicing and collection of tuition and residence fees. and sales invoices), and there will also be crossover work that will require collaboration with senior members of Credit Control, in particular the Head of Credit Control.

This is a full-time post offered on an indefinite basis
