Background
We are looking for a Departmental Administrator to sit within the Language and Communication Science Department to help aid the department as well as the Head of Department.
Responsibilities
Provide pro-active and high-quality administrative support to the Head of Department and other senior staff within the department, including diary and meetings management, using judgement and initiative to ensure all tasks are undertaken efficiently, accurately and to required.
Act as point of contact for the academic staff within the department as well as other contacts both within the School and wider University and external stakeholders.
Person Specification
Excellent organisational skills are required including the ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload and be proficient in the use of IT systems; MS Office packages, in particular a minimum of intermediate level skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
A high level of interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, using a ‘customer-centred’ approach is required.
A very high level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail and the ability to prioritise a varied workload and work to deadlines is essential.
