This new role offers an opportunity to play a key strategic role and contribute to the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange digital infrastructure.
Although you will be working to integrate IT systems, this role involves working closely and collaboratively with a wide array of individuals and communities across the university. It is designed to oversee, manage and provide support and training for all users of the university’s Current Research Information System (CRIS) ensuring the “metadata” (common grouped field descriptors) and common data items are regularly reviewed, fit for purpose and periodically updated.
This will include maintaining and updating external entity lists shared by the system modules, ensuring synchronization of Organizational Unit lists, including for example those between CRIS and the Oracle E Business Suite, the University’s website and maintaining and updating all associated lists as required.
Located within the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Office (RKEO) this role will report to the Director of Knowledge Exchange & CPD, and work directly with RKEO management, with the PVC Research & Knowledge Exchange and with colleagues in the Library and Learning Services, Academic Registry, University IT Services and other key stakeholders across the University.
You will be the first point of contact for system performance and for the CRIS provider as well as working with peers and colleagues across the University to maintain excellent client and partner relationships in all circumstances, including providing regular service reports for committees and for senior managers.
You will also be expected to be self-motivated to demonstrate your ability to develop and deliver presentations, to work independently and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff on all the university’s campuses and with external audiences alike.
All candidates wishing to apply for this new role will require knowledge, understanding and experience of higher education research and knowledge exchange, knowledge support, civic and public engagement and/or teaching initiatives and demonstrable skills in project management.
An awareness of the Research Excellence Framework and the Knowledge Exchange Framework and the data requirements of both would be advantageous, as would evidence from prior employment of your ability to work effectively with and within cross-organisational teams and with users, software and systems managers and with senior colleagues.
